Manchester United’s £62.5m Mbeumo bid has been rejected as Brentford stand firm on their valuation of the Cameroon international forward.

The Red Devils offered £55m upfront plus £7.5m in add-ons, but Brentford want the full amount guaranteed, matching the Cunha deal.

Despite having just a year left on his deal, Brentford are in no rush to sell after his standout campaign in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old hit a career-high 20 goals and added nine assists last season, making him one of the league’s top performers.

Having signed Matheus Cunha already, United continue their efforts to bring in more firepower ahead of the new season.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank is keen to work with Mbeumo again, increasing competition for the Brentford star’s signature.

Other European sides playing in the Champions League are also monitoring Mbeumo, raising the stakes in the transfer chase.

Mbeumo is expected to miss part of the 2025-26 season as he represents Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Any deal for Mbeumo will need to account for the possibility of him being unavailable for up to four weeks mid-season.

Since arriving from Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 matches, helping Brentford establish themselves in the top flight.
