Ex-Marine Faces Charges After Liverpool Parade Crash Injures 79
The Liverpool parade crash has shaken the city, with 53-year-old Paul Doyle now facing multiple serious charges after allegedly ploughing his car into a crowd celebrating Liverpool FCโs Premier League win.
Chaos on Water Street as Car Hits Fans
At 6:00 PM BST on Water Street, a vehicle allegedly driven by Doyle struck a crowd of football supporters. In total, 79 people were injured, with ages ranging from 9 to 78. The injured include a nine-year-old child who was seriously hurt.
Charges Filed: GBH, Wounding, and Dangerous Driving
Doyle, a former Royal Marine and father-of-three from West Derby, has been charged with:

2 counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH)

2 counts of causing unlawful and malicious GBH with intent

One of each of the GBH-related charges involves a child victim.

Residents of Burghill Road, where Doyle lives, described police activity as โintenseโ after the Liverpool parade crash. One neighbor said, โI walked out and saw police everywhereโthen wondered, what if it was him?โ

Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims confirmed that Merseyside Police are reviewing a huge volume of CCTV, mobile, dashcam, and business footage. She added, โWeโre working tirelessly and professionally to answer every question about the incident.โ
Prosecutor Vows Justice for All Victims
Sarah Hammond, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Mersey-Cheshire, said all evidence is under constant review. โIt is important to ensure every victim of the Liverpool parade crash gets the justice they deserve,โ she stated at a press conference.
Court Appearance Set for This Friday
Doyle is due to appear before Liverpool Magistratesโ Court on Friday morning, where the charges will be formally heard. Police urge the public to be patient as the investigation continues.
