Sindh to Get EV Charging Stations Every 50km: Minister Memon
Landmark move to boost electric mobility, create jobs, and drive green energy adoption across the province
EV Revolution Gains Momentum in Sindh
In a major push toward sustainable transportation, Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced the provincial government’s plan to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations every 50 kilometers across all districts of the province.
The announcement was made during a recent official visit to Chery Holdings Group (CHG) headquarters in Wuhu, China, where the minister, along with Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Shah, held meetings with key stakeholders from the Chinese auto giant.

During the visit, the Sindh delegation was received by CHG Chairman Yin Tongyue, who expressed the company’s interest in establishing EV infrastructure throughout the province. The move is aimed at making EV ownership more accessible and practical for citizens, especially in regions where charging access has previously been limited.
Charging Network to Support All EV Segments
Minister Memon emphasized that the planned network of charging stations would support a wide range of EVs — including electric motorcycles, passenger cars, and commercial trucks. He noted that the initiative is a step toward modernizing Sindh’s transportation system and reflects the provincial government’s commitment to green mobility.
“This is not just a step forward in transportation innovation, but also a leap toward a cleaner, more sustainable future,” Memon stated.
Local Jobs and Industry Growth in the Pipeline
Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, the minister shared that the EV infrastructure plan will create new employment opportunities across the province. He also revealed that an assembly plant for EV mini-trucks is already under development in Karachi, marking a new phase in local manufacturing and industrial growth.
Energy Minister: Solar Partnerships Underway
Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Shah also shared updates from the visit, noting that Chinese investors have shown strong interest in solar energy projects, especially in rural Sindh. He stated that the ongoing solarisation of homes would help address the province’s energy shortages and align with global shifts toward renewable power sources.
“Solar energy in rural areas will reduce dependence on the grid and empower local communities with clean, reliable electricity,” Shah said.

A Greener Future for Sindh
With a dual focus on electric mobility and solar energy, Sindh’s latest efforts signal a transformative approach to infrastructure, energy, and sustainability. The partnerships with global players like CHG are set to position the province as a regional leader in eco-friendly innovation.
Final Thoughts
This bold initiative is not only expected to make EV adoption easier for residents across Sindh but also aligns the province with global sustainability goals. As government and private sector players collaborate, Sindh is poised to become a model for green transport and clean energy in South Asia.
