Manchester United advertise four new football roles at club

Manchester United are set to expand their backroom staff after making sweeping changes across the past 18 months under INEOS. The club has now advertised four senior roles, with a particular focus on strengthening its women’s football operations.

Over the past year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has overseen a major overhaul at Old Trafford, restructuring both the men’s and women’s football departments. This began with high-profile boardroom appointments, including Omar Berrada as chief executive officer, Dan Ashworth as sporting director, and Jason Wilcox as technical director. However, Ashworth’s tenure proved short-lived, as he was dismissed only months later, with Wilcox subsequently elevated to director of football.

Manchester United have also added Christian Vivell as head of recruitment, tasked with leading scouting strategy across all levels of the club. Alongside these changes, INEOS initiated a large-scale staff reduction, resulting in approximately 450 redundancies across departments. The shake-up was viewed as part of Ratcliffe’s long-term strategy to streamline the club’s off-field structure and build a more sustainable model for the future.

Despite the significant cutbacks, there are now signs of renewed recruitment. Chelsea Beck-Daniel, Manchester United’s Head of Talent, announced via LinkedIn that the club is hiring four new positions. These roles are directly linked to women’s football and academy operations, highlighting the importance being placed on strengthening the women’s side ahead of the new campaign.

The advertised roles are:

Women’s Team Operations Lead

Football Transactions Manager (Women’s and Academy)

Assistant Performance Analyst (Women’s Team)

Head of Women’s Physiotherapy (Maternity Cover)

Beck-Daniel wrote: “We’re excited to share some fantastic opportunities within our Women’s team here at Manchester United. If you’re passionate about working in elite women’s football, we’d love to hear from you.”

This recruitment drive comes as Marc Skinner’s United Women prepare for the start of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season. The club appears intent on strengthening the infrastructure around the squad, ensuring they remain competitive in a league that has grown significantly in both quality and visibility over the past few years.

With INEOS continuing to reshape Manchester United both on and off the pitch, the latest recruitment push underlines a growing commitment to women’s football, as the club looks to match the professional standards set across Europe’s elite.
